Past. Present. Future.

Seeking and Serving God and Others

We rejoice in the way that God has allowed us to walk and grow in Him, thereby developing a passion to help others in their walk with God. Reflecting on the history of Midview Baptist Church and our present ministry, four continual realities guide the steps of our walk with God:

Seeking God:

Our church family understands the importance of a continual closeness with Christ. The tremendous blessings of prayer and seeking God through reading His Word (the Bible) allows us to enjoy the certainty of knowing He walks along with us through life. Psalm 105:4 “Search for the Lord and for His strength; continually seek Him” Hebrews 11:6 “…God rewards those who sincerely seek Him.”

Seeking Others:

The heartwarming results from spending time seeking God throughout our life’s adventure is to realize that He desires that others, too, enjoy a walk with Him. As we grow in Christ, our hearts begin to sense the passion for introducing others to Him. We want to fulfill the command that Jesus left His followers 2,000 years ago. We seek the opportunities to “make disciples,” followers of Jesus! Matthew 28:19-20 “Therefore go and make disciples…” Mark 1:17 “Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

Serving God:

And we have learned that simply seeking God and others is only part of our walk with Him. We also want to serve Him. The natural outworking of having a heart for God is to then use our hands for Him! Serving God through our areas of “giftedness” (and more) is evidence that we love and obey Him. There is a fantastic joy that comes as we faithfully serve Him. Joshua 24:24 “…we will serve the Lord our God” I Thess. 1:9 “…turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God.”

Serving Others:

Just as we have experienced that seeking God results in seeking others, serving Him also motivates us to serve others. The Bible lists many “one another” verses that call for us to pray for, encourage, help, be kind to, and serve others. So serving others is just another reality of our walk with God. Gal. 5:13 “Serve one another in love.”

We like to sum it all up this way, “Midview Baptist Church: Seeking and Serving, God and Others!”
